Celebrating Independence from 1776 Through Today
Date: July 9, 2023
Location: Downtown Easton, PA
At noon on July 8, 1776, Easton was one of only three places where the Declaration of Independence was first read publicly. Ever since that monumental event, Easton has embraced the principles of freedom as a city where pioneering thoughts and diverse beliefs are welcome, where unique individuals can bring their dreams to life in word and action.
We celebrate both the original spirit of independence and its enduring legacy with Heritage Day: a free, full-day family festival. Heritage Day showcases local history and the heritage of many groups, with reenactment events, activities for kids, and musical performances.
Join us for Heritage Day in Easton on July 9, 2023, where we celebrate the fullness of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
The city is offering $10 flat rate parking in the Fourth Street Garage and the Third Street Garage all day. Metered parking on the streets will be very limited given street closures for Heritage Day. See a map of Easton’s garages and lots.
Downtown Easton is only a 1/4-mile ride from the D&L Trail. Or take in some art as you ride the 1.5-mile Karl Stirner Arts Trail from 13th Street into Downtown Easton. (Note: make sure you have proper lighting if you decide to use either trail after sunset!)
Artist-designed bike racks are available throughout Downtown Easton. Remember to bring your own lock.
Need Some Air?
There’s an air pump, bike repair/wash station and bike rack at our sister site, Easton Public Market, 325 Northampton St. Inside you’ll find restrooms, a refillable water bottle station and healthy snacks at the Highmark Farmstand.
