Black Forest Inn
A true labor of love and legacy, the Black Forest Inn has been serving German-Continental cuisine in Stanhope, New Jersey since 1977, with three generations of family members having worked there over the decades. Founded by Heinz and Elke Aichem, who emigrated from Germany and found a piece of their homeland in the woodsy Allamuchy Mountain range, the Inn transformed what was once a simple roadside stop into one of the region’s most distinctive dining destinations.
Their German-Continental cuisine draws on regional German traditions as well as neighboring influences from France, Italy, and Eastern Europe — a true “Heart of Europe” experience on your plate. Expect sauerbraten, Bavarian pretzels, smoked trout, venison, and even flammkuchen — what chef Heiner Aichem affectionately calls “German pizza” — all crafted with the kind of depth and care that only comes from decades of mastery.
This Heritage Day, Black Forest Inn is bringing that same authentic Old World flavor straight to Easton with their food truck. A fantastic opportunity to experience a beloved NJ institution without crossing the Delaware. Don’t miss your chance to taste a little piece of Europe right here on the streets of Easton!
