Step back 250 years and meet the soldiers of the American Revolution. Based in the Delaware Valley, the 1NJV consists of 25 soldiers, musicians, and camp followers, all committed to authentic period portrayal.

At Heritage Day, expect to see full military drill and live demonstrations — the Manual of Arms, marching formations, bayonet charges, and period camp life including fire preparation and soldier routines. Come talk to reenactors up close, handle period equipment, and hear what drove men and women to take up arms 250 years ago.

What makes the 1NJV especially compelling is their perspective: they portray the Loyalist side, the New Jersey Volunteers who fought for the Crown, because it takes two sides to have a battle. Their story adds a layer of complexity and honesty to the Revolution’s history that you won’t find everywhere.

Loaner uniforms and equipment are available for anyone curious about trying reenacting themselves — the 1NJV welcomes men and women of all backgrounds.
